School Counseling

Ms. India Davis

EXPERIENCE:

Ms. Davis has served as a school counselor at Irmo Middle School for the past five years. Before joining Irmo Middle, she worked as a school counselor at Schofield Middle School in Aiken, South Carolina. She also previously served as an elementary school counselor at Aiken Elementary, where she created a student mentor program and launched a step team for fourth and fifth grade students.

In addition to her work in schools, Ms. Davis brings over a decade of experience from her 11 years as a community specialist with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. During that time, she also volunteered in the Lunch Buddy program, mentoring elementary-aged students over lunch. Ms. Davis has also served as a guardian ad litem in Richland County, advocating for children in abuse and neglect cases.

INTERESTS AND FACTS:

Ms. Davis is passionate about student advocacy, youth mentorship, and building strong community ties. She believes in creating safe, supportive spaces where students can grow academically, emotionally, and socially. Outside of school, she enjoys giving back to the community and inspiring young people.

Mr. James Fanning

EXPERIENCE:
Mr. Fanning began working in education 26 years ago. He has taught at IMS for 20 years. In addition to school counseling he has worked as a Private Practice therapist for 20 years. Mr. Fanning also worked at LARADAC, DSS, DMH and DJJ prior to getting into the Education side. Mr. Fanning is a proud graduate of Irmo High School and was a member of the Irmo High School State Championship football team in 1981.

Mr. Fanning enjoys College Football, Golf, Motorcycles and spending time with his wife of 30 years and his two grown children.

Mrs. Tina Stevens

EXPERIENCE:
Mrs. Stevens began working in education over 34 years ago.  She has taught at the middle school level and been a school counselor for middle and high.  In addition to school counseling, she has worked as a therapist in the prison setting and private practice. She is starting her 15th year at IMS.

Master of Arts in Education, Administration and Supervision, University of Phoenix

INTERESTS AND FACTS:

Mrs. Stevens enjoys bible studies, walks, dogs, traveling, getting together with friends, and of course her family.  She is blessed to have 2 grown children and to be the grandmother of 2 boys!

Ms. Judy Connor

EXPERIENCE:
Ms. Judy began working in education as a long-term substitute Kindergarten and 7th grade Science teacher. This is her second year working in the Guidance Office at Irmo Middle School. She was formally a Lifestyle and Activities Director at several assisted living communities. Prior to that, she served in transportation and logistics in the Air Force.

Associate Degree, Community College of the Air Force

INTERESTS AND FACTS:

By way of the military, Judy has been fortunate to have been to 25 countries. She enjoys cooking, painting, scuba diving, traveling, visiting the mountains and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Jane Richardson

EXPERIENCE:

Before moving into the Career Specialist position, Mrs. Richardson worked in various capacities over the last nine years at Irmo Middle School. She worked in the financial services industry for 15 years before staying home with her three children, all of whom are Irmo High School and USC graduates. During that time, she served on their schools' PTSO boards, SIC and the Irmo Band Boosters board.

Bachelor of Science in Economics, University of South Carolina

INTERESTS AND FACTS:

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially in my new role as a grandmother!  I also enjoy cooking, reading and gardening.
