When should my student remain at home?
The following link will provide you with information regarding the immunizations your child will need in order to attend school.
The following link will take you to the DHEC exclusion list which will give you information regarding when your child needs to remain home from school due to illness. The Exclusion Lists are specific by illness and outline when the student may return to school and whether or not they will need a note from their health care provider stating they are ready to return to school.
School and Child Care Exclusion List
In addition to the exclusion list,
- Students with a temperature of 101 or greater must remain at home until their temperature has been under 101 for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
- Students with vomiting must remain at home until they have been symptom free for 12 hours and able to tolerate a meal.
- Students who have had a dental procedure requiring sedation and/or anesthetic should not return to school until the anesthetic has completely worn off and the student has full feeling returned to their mouth and tongue.
- Students are at a higher risk for injuring their mouth while it is numb and their pain level cannot be adequately gauged.
- Students who have had a tooth extracted must also remain at home until they are no longer having active bleeding.
